The Open Stacks Book Club
The book club is open to anyone who enjoys the reading of good books and the discussions they inspire, exposure to new ideas and differing viewpoints, and an opportunity to socialize with other book lovers. Although we don’t focus on one genre, we primarily read contemporary fiction and occasionally enjoy reaching deep into thought provoking literature. Suggestions are made by the group and we often have the books selected for six months at a time.
Whatever your reasons for joining The Open Stacks Book Club, as long as you want to have fun and discuss great books, you’re sure to find our reading group a rewarding experience!
The Classics Book Club
We read and discuss great literary works that deal with religious and spiritual issues like, Dante’s Divine Comedy, Dostoevsky’s Brothers Karamazov, Thoreau’s Walden, and the Confessions of St. Augustine.
Please join us if you are interested in stimulating discussion and social interaction.
All people are welcome!
The Christian faith not only involves a relationship and communion with God but also with fellow believers. Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church supports this not only through our weekly worship and education but also through other activities. Each Sunday after worship many members and friends gather in the Social Room for Coffee Hour. This time also provides an opportunity for people to sign up for volunteer opportunities, make reservations for MAPC Nights Out (includes Broadway musicals, plays and concerts), meet and greet visitors, learn more about programs or events announced at the beginning of the worship service or in the bulletin, and much more.
Mount Auburn Nights Out
Our faith community enjoys being in each other’s company. We take advantage of our local cultural scene for the many and varied opportunities that are presented for outings as a group. We call these get-togethers “Mount Auburn Nights Out”. Theatre, concerts, the zoo, children’s performances, or possibly the ballet are terrific occasions to mingle off-campus. Some of the activities we’ve done together in the past include David Sedaris’ Santaland Diaries at New Edgecliff Theatre, and Curtains at Cincinnati Music Theatre. It’s a great way to get to know some of the people at Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church if you are newly visiting our church. There are often smaller groups participating, and frequently the outing begins or ends with the sharing of a meal together.
Our next Mount Auburn Night Out is a karaoke party! Join us at Tokyo Kitty, downtown on Vine St., on March 17 at 5:30pm and sing your heart out!
