Parents of Bill Bogdan.
(a favorite, early picture…my parents first Easter together as a married couple in 1948)
From the Prophet . . .
And he said…
“Your children and not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.”
My parents gave their sons the foundation of a deep faith, a belief that we were and are blessed children of God and through the many blessings we are given in life, we are expected to give back and serve others. Our parents were teachers, loved their profession, and believed education to be the highest calling in life. We were always challenged to find our unique call, one that serves others. Two lessons resonate strongest…hold fast to your faith, a belief that God’s love is unconditional. And even though the challenges in life may be great, be optimistic, embrace life’s joys, and grow from the challenges before you. Love was constant, blessing abundant, parenting by example.
