President John Fitzgerald Kennedy

May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963

As President, he created the Peace Corps, through which Americans volunteered to help underdeveloped nations in areas such as education, farming, health care, and construction. He is also credited with proposing what would become the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which championed equal rights for black Americans.

“Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.” -President John F. Kennedy
