September 29, 1778 – November 11, 1841

Catherine McAuley founded the Sisters of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland, on Bagget Street. Her mission was to help educate poor women and their children. Her work continues today with Mercy schools and hospitals. Several of the “Nuns on the Bus” are Mercy sisters whose dedication to social justice is very strong.
