Morning Worship

At 11:00 am each Sunday (10:00 during the summer months of June, July, and August) we meet together in the Sanctuary to share joys and concerns, praise God through words and music, reflect on God's message to us through Scripture and sermon, communicate with God through prayer, support and witness to each other on our journeys of faith, and enjoy the fellowship of Christ's church. The first Sunday of each month also includes Holy Communion.

To view the text of sermons preached at Mt. Auburn visit our Sermons page.

Christian Education

Opportunities for education occur 10:00 am each Sunday (September - May) and include:

Adult Forum - includes teaching and discussion on a variety of topics related to spirituality, social justice, and the Christian faith.

Church School - provides Christian education for children and youth through 12th grade.

Refer to our newsletter The Beacon for additional information on upcoming topics in the Adult Forum.

Music Ministry

This area of ministry includes instrumental music such as organ, brass, and hand bells as well as choral music presented by the Chancel Choir during morning worship. This also includes special events in the sanctuary such as the 2006 Mount Auburn Concert Series.

Missions

The Church and Society Committee of Mount
Auburn Presbyterian Church contributes funds and other support to various missions and social justice ministries.  Some of these include

  • The Institute for Theological Education of Bahia (ITEBA), an ecumenical seminary in Salvador, Brazil

  • CEDITER, a Presbyterian Church (USA) supported program for land justice and reform in Brazil

  • Tanzania Orphanage Project, a school in Moshi, Tanzania that provides a home and education for children whose families have been devastated by AIDS

  • One Great Hour of Sharing, a program sponsored by the Presbyterian Church (USA) to provide assistance to people in need throughout the world due to disasters

  • St. George Food Pantry, a local agency that provides food to needy families

  • Kairos Prison Ministry, a ministry whose purpose is to help grow and nurture strong Christian communities within state and federal adult correctional institutions

Calling and Caring Ministry

This is led by the Board of Deacons who are responsible for insuring that the needs of members and friends of Mt. Auburn are being met and that they remain connected to the church community.

More Light Presbyterian Church

Mt. Auburn belongs to a network of Presbyterian churches, known as More Light Presbyterian churches, that work toward the total inclusion of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people in the life and ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA)

Fellowship and Support

The Christian faith not only involves a relationship and communion with God but also with fellow believers.  Mt. Auburn supports this not only through our weekly worship and education but also through other activities.  Each Sunday after worship many members and friends gather in the Social Room for Coffee Hour that features fair trade coffee.  This time also provides an opportunity for people to sign up for volunteer opportunities such as IHN, make reservations for MAPC Nights Out Downtown (includes Broadway musicals and concerts), meet and greet visitors, learn more about programs or events announced at the beginning of the worship service or in the bulletin, and much more.  Mt. Auburn also provides special events throughout the year such as the bi-annual Cabaret that features members and friends showcasing their talents, our annual Thanksgiving dinner, and the annual Summer Camp that is held before Labor Day to name a few.  More information about these various activities and opportunities may be found in our monthly newsletter The Beacon.
